Lawrence, Nov. 10th 1885
Dear Sir:
If you have not already done so will you kindly fix upon two of the following dates, either of which would suit you for your lecture here: Jan. 12th or 19th Feb. 9th or 16th, March 2nd, 9th, or 16th, April 13th or 20th. Furthermore will you give the subject of your lecture? Of course you will let us know long enough beforehand by what train to expect you.
An early answer to the first two questions will oblige.
Yours Respectfully, W. H. Carruthers Chair Lecture Comm Lawrence Ks

Dear Prof. Bessey
Yours is rec'd. Your proposition as to the botany is excellent, and will be carried out so far as this [?] of the line is concerned.
I concur fully in your remarks as to advertising. I sent your letter to McCalla & Stavely to reinforce my own requests of a similar kind.
Hoping to meed you at Ann Arbor
I am yours truly, Edwd. D. Cope
