by my father, Horace A[?], who died last August. I would sell one at a very reasonable price now or at some future time – if you wish to correspond with me about them. I should be happy to hear from you – and could refer you to Dr. Laslow of Harvard College – or Prof. Brittan who has one of his collections.

Prof. Chas. E. Bessey, Dear Sir:
Perhaps by this time you will be able to give your attention to the collections of Algae about which I wrote you in May. The sets comprise from six to nine hundred specimens, classified and named from the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts, England, M[?], Sandwhich S[?]. & Portugal. I offer them at 25 each though my father received

$30 and $75 for similar collecting. The work is neatly done and would be an addition that I am sure you would value in your College Herbarium. I was much interested in [?] "[?] upon Botany" especially as the friend whom I am visiting was a visitor at the Exposition.
I do not expect to return to Brooklyn till September and have been away [?] since the last of May. I will be glad to give you any [further?] information about the Algae that you may desire.
Address Richfield Springs
during August. Dr. Laslow of Harvard & Prof. L[?] of Amherst can tell you of these collections.

Prof. Bessey Dear Sir.
I send you by mail a few specimens of Algae to give you some idea of the arrangement of those belonging to the collection. L[?] used uniform paper – [five?] sizes – the larger size I cannot send conveniently. The specimens are all named very carefully and I think you would find them correct as he was in constant correspondence with the best Alg[o?]logists. I think

the specimens found [?] [have?] the [?], especially the Calc[?]. Dr. Laslow in writing to me only last week said that father's were the most beautiful from this [regime?] that he had ever seen.
Hoping that you will decide to take one set.
