My Dear Bessey—

I am much obliged to you for the notes and release on the Silphium. I have a quantity of alcoholic material of the [?] of the college and hope to work out the matter next term. It would give me great pleasure to prepare a paper on the [?] for the Naturalist when the work is done. Please accept my thanks for the Bot. Notes for Jan Nat inclosed in your letter.

I am working on continuity of protoplasm and kindred topics with Dr. Goodale and on Fungi with Dr. Farlow.

My dear Dr. Bessey,

I have not had a moment of time or a place to answer your kind note of 13th Feb. until now and now I am in the little back "study" with no fire and the [?] season for mid winter. So soon as I get thawed out I will try the continuity of protoplasm. At present it has not continuity in my chilled brain! I will look after the symbiosis matter later. Much obliged for the suggestion.

My dear Besssey:

Your letter is so full of mountain [?], [?] plants and lovely cryptogams that I must go.

I thank you very much for your kind invitation to join you at Lincoln but owing to the [?] matters [?] [?] here I cannot start before the 6th and will see you all at the St James in Denver on the morning of July 9th.

I have a student's 1 1/3 fare return ticket to Council Bluffs. From Omaha I will get an excursion to Denver. If I can do any better way let me know please.

Your kind favor is received. I am glad to learn of your results. Another S[?]! Good for you. I was never quite content to have that Cherry P emarginata.

I should like very much to send specimens to Farlow with you. When, about, will you send and, had I better select out mine and mail it to you? The [better?/letter?] Doctor has been getting some R[?] results as well as myself. He will present the matter at the A. A. A. S. and [resumes?] his [Exoasci?] for the S. P. A. S.

If you go to Buffalo and I cannot would it be too much to ask you to do what work then may be in connection with
