Dear Sir,

You will excuse me for taking the liberty of applying to you for information but as I have been a student of your Book on Botany I feel as if that makes it pardonable. I wish to procure a Systematic work on the higher orders of Fungi. Can you give me the name of any manual or Monograph on the orders Gasteronycetes & Aymenomycetes?

Also the name of the publishers, & price if known.

I can read Eng. French & Latin not German, so if you know of

any works in any of these languages I would like to know the name, of course Eng. would be preferred.

By giving me the above information you will greatly oblige.

Your kind letter of the 8th inst. giving me the information requested, has been received for which please accept my sincere thanks.

In response to your request as stated in circular inclosed to me I send you today by mail two specimens of [??] As I have never had any instructors in drying plants & no one near me to show me I far that my specimens are too poorly dried to be of any use. To you however "such as I have" I send,

Hoping that they may be of some use to you & begging you to call on me whenever I can be of any use to you with regard to our [boreal?] flora, or in any other way.
