The Chancellor now took up the discussion in detail of his report, calling the attention of the Board to the following points :
( A ) That the faculty are prepared to prsent the name of a candidate at once for the instructors in English.
( B ) The necessity of filling the chairs of philosophy which should not be deferred beyond June next.
( C ) The demands upon the scientific departments for public work, noting the recommendation of the faculty for the appointment of an assistant professor of chemistry
( D ) Providing for printing of miscellanious University documents, bulleting, circulars [&]C., and noting the recommendation of the University Senate upon this matter.
( E ) Calling attention to the matter of the establishment of a law school.

The secretary presented and read a communication from Professor Mc,Millan relating to comp;ensation for work done by him in teaching philosophy, which was received and referred to the Finance Committee.

The Board then took a recess until 2 P. M.

The Board of Regents met at 2 O'clock P. M. pursuant to adjournment.
Present the same members as at the morning session. Absent Regent Hiatt.
