I am especially grateful to you too for offering to notice my work in the Amer. Naturalist and shall take pleasure in placing the material for you to work from into your hands as soon as possible. That is something I have been hoping for but hardly know how to get until your kindly offer.

yes, the subscribers to the work which my good father once proposed issuing, I am rather counting upon for my work, and as soon as ready I intend placing my circular before them, as far as possible. Shall be pleased to consider the Univ. of Neb. as already on my list.

I am pleased to send you herewith, which I do under separate [?], a transverse section of the

Acer [dasycaipurn?], some [over?] 5 x 7 in. in size and 1/200 in. thick. I dare say you may be interested in it. It shows the nice [?] my [?] do, and in this I hope I may be pardoned a little pride as they are of my own invention and have cost me a great deal of thought and planning.
