My Dear Prof Bessey
Many thanks for your kind congratulations in matter[s?] of compensation by the Legislature, so many similar kind words from many sources, and the near unanimous vote in the Senate – 28 to 3, and [sic.] 2 of my friends were out – I confess flatters me, and leads to the conclusion the claim had merit in it, and not a steal as the Omaha B[?] called it.

am pleased to know you have the plates. How long can you hold them? or did you purchase duplicates?
You can have all the extra sheets you wish, when we get at the printing.
As soon as I am through my spring [?] in tree shipping, which is now on my hands, I will come up and arrange the wood specimens.
Will not, however, be up at Lincoln so often as heretofore as the"Inter-State-Commerce Act" has cut off free passes on RR. I think this is a forced construction, however, and perhaps will be [?] [?] long.

Dear Sir:
Find enclosed warrant $20.10–$20 to pay Bill Election and 10 cts to pay for D[p't?]. Glad you have the cuts, & own them.
I am quite anxious, if possible, to use them in "Western Resources" before they go in the annual Report. Referring to previous letter, advise me, please.
Truly Robt. W. Furnas

My Dear Professor
Referring to your favor 5/25. Like you, I am "[?] to death" with work, – putting in about 18 hours in 24, – Sundays not excepted, I am ashamed to say.
In compliance with [?], will say, it is now my intention to be in Lincoln, in the afternoon June 1st, and the following day until near noon. If desirable, I will meet the students interested in Forestry, [?], for the present, to make their acquaintances. [For?], at this [sic.] [minute?] [sic.] I have no thought what I will say.
Truly Robt. W. Furnas
