An important thing would be to get it properly illustrated – If you or Mr O. can supply correct and suitable [?] to [engrave?] from, the book ought to be an attractive one as well as valuable – We would be pleased to make terms for its publication.

[Dr] H is somewhere in the East and as [Jai?] one of the authors of the [Catalogue] I hasten to reply that you may be enabled to get the information you desire [.] Our Catalogue was published under the auspices of the [Cal] Academy of Sciences of

this city. W is by no means a com plete catalogue but such as it is we send you. We have now several hundred more species to add [illegible] must remain until we issue a new catalogue I am at present at work on an account of our parasitic fungi [illegible] infest I am also working for our State [illegible] Society on the Grape Vine Fungi. If we can be of any service to you please to indicate it.
