My Dear Sir,
It is probable that your institution may be able to secure Professor [Wymer?] for the chair of Mental and Moral Philosophy and History, if you write to him soon. He is still with us, and has no intention to [score?] his [connection?] with our College, but I know that he feels a little [?], and would prefer to be connected with an institution in which the curriculum did not cross his work so nearly at right angles as it appears to him to do here.
He is my most intimate friend

My dear professor
The article you ask for was written in 1879, while the departure was in Lesson A Mr. S. Lanchfield (??) was a member and a bitter opponent of the College. He has been a member of your Board and always [?] [?] [?] of Michigan as compared to the Iowa Agricultural College. As the Lansing Republic can goes to every member of the [Board?] I took occasion to send an account of your college where they would be likely to see it. I wrote wholly as a friend.
I [sic.]regret that I cannot send you a copy. I sent the list I had and the list

[I?] hear of you from time to time, and you may be [?] with great pleasure, rejoicing in your successes. I suppose you have our graduate Georgeson with you. He came to us when but a year from [?].
We enjoyed having professors Knapp and Pudd with us very much.
