XI. To enable all to have an opportunity to secure commissions, the officers will be limited to the Senior and Junior classes,preference being given the former,and they will be selected if possible from those Cadets who have already completed the six terms of required drill.

XII. Non-commissioned officers will if possible be limited to members of the Junior and Sophomore classes.

XIII. Officers or non-commissioned officers failing to properly fill the offices to which they are appointed or exhibiting lack of qualification therefor,may be releived at any time and their places filled by another.

XIV. Cadets belonging to the Band are to be uniformed as required,and will receive credit for service the same as if in the ranks of the Battalion.

$1100. for fitting up Vet'r Exp'r station.&c.

On motion the following resolution was adopted.

Resolved, that the sum of eleven hundred dollars be appropriated for fitting up rooms Nos.2 and 4 in the basement of the (main) University building, and repairs to out buildings for experimental station, the same to be expended under the direction of Prof. Billings, Prof.Bessey and the Steward.

Deficiencies
Medical College.

The finance committee reported recommending the f ollowing appropriations to pay expenses of Lecturers in the Medical College,the same not having been paid by reason of deficiency in the former appropriations:

W.M. Knapp 120.40
E.B. Guild 63.50

$60.00 to pay bill Architect Mendelssohn

On motion the following resolutionwas adopted.

Resolved , that the bill of Mr.Mendelssohn Architect,for examination and report upon the foundation of the old building in the sum of sixty dollars be paid by the Secretary and Steward out of funds appropriated for repairs to said foundation,and the Steward is hereby so authorized to make such payment.

$20.00 for class invitations.

Regent Holmes moved that the bill of $20.00 for class invitations,per Chancellor Manatt be paid by the Secretary out of the incidental fund, which motion prevailed.

The Chancellor called attention to the necessity of making provision for the work in Philosophy &c.,which was referred by the chair to the committee on course of study.
