Books for Chapel to be purchased.

On motion of Regent Burnham it was ordered that the Chancellor and the Steward be authorized to procure one hundred and fifty copies of song books for use in the Chapel, on the most favorable terms.

Relating to extension of detail of Lieut. E. S. Dudley.

On motion the following resolution was adopted.
Whereas, it is in the opinion of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, quite important that Lieutenant E. S. Dudley Instructor in Military science and tactics, be retained in that positon until the expiration of the next University year,
1st. That there may be no interruption in the studies and drill in the midst of the session.
2nd. Because it is desirable that he should continue in charge until the building for Armory and drill room that is expected to be erected from plans prepared by him may be completed before the University is deprived of his valuable services,
3rd. Because of the value of his services in the organization of the Militia of this State,
Resolved, that the Board respectfully requests of the War department, if it is not incompatible with the good of the service, to extend the detail of 1st. Lieut. E. S. Dudley of the 2nd Regiment U. S. Artillery, as instructor in Military science and tactics, until the close of the University year June 30th. 1888.

On motion it was ordered that the above resolutions be transmitted to the War department promptly, by the Secretary of this Board, with a request for an early reply thereto.

Relating to appointment of Associate Professor of Chem.

On motion the following resolution was adopted.
Resolved, that the Board will make the appointment of Associate Professor of Chemistry in accordance with the recommendation of the Faculty to take effect at the beginning of the next University year, should the estimates made by the Regents be allowed in the Legislative appropriations.

Relating to the 'Hatch Bill'.

On motion of Regent Burnham it was ordered that the President of the Board in connection with the Chancellor and the Secretary of the Board, be authorized to take such steps as may be found desirable and necessary to forward the interests of the University under the 'Hatch Bill'.
