As to the condition of the same - procuring also estimates for repairs if the same are deemed needful : that repairs, if found necessary and the state of funds permit, be made at an early day under the direction of said committee, and defective parts be placed in a safe and sound condition.

Committee on repairs

The Chairman thereupon appointed Regents Burnham and Holmes to act as such committee on repairs, in connection with the steward and the Chancellor.

Law school Committee

Regent Mallalieu moved that the President of the Board and Regent Holmes act as the committee on the part of the Board for conference with the state Bar Association with respect to the establishment of a Law College. The motion prevailed.

Chancellor to assign work to instructors.

The committee on course of study recommended the following:

That the chancellor be authorized, until further action, to assign necessary instruction in the latin school to instroctors who may not be fully occupied with their own more immediate work.

Relating to Grant Memorial Hall Gymnasium, Armory

On Motion the recommendation of the committee was received and adopted.

On motion the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved: That the sum of five thousand dollars be set apart in the estimates of expenses for the ensuing two years for the erection of a Drill Room, and that the Board endorses the recommendation of Lieut. Dudley in favor of a legislative appropriation adding a sufficient sum from the State general fund to construct an armory and gymnasium as a memorial of General U. S. Grant.

Relating to status of instructors, &c.

On motion of Regent Burnham the following resolution was adopted:
Resolved: That the Board consider favorably the suggestions of the Chancellor, as heretofore expressed, and of the faculty, as expressed in writing, regarding the status and tenure of approved instructors, and desire a more complete and detailed report in writing from the chancellor at the next meeting of the Board.

Geological Surv.

On motion the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved: That the Board recognize the good work already done by the professor of
