regulation of the weather service be placed in the hands of the Chancellor and Professor Bessey, dean of the Industrial College, and Professor Nicholson, with power to act.

The chancellor called attention of the Board to the general subject of instruction in the latin school, and especially with reference to the provisions of sec. 7 page 9 of the printed By-laws relating to this matter. Referred to the committee on course of study.

Commissions and Certificates to cadets.

On motion of Regent Burnham the following resolution was adopted:
Resolved: that steps be taken to secure the passage of an act by the coming legislature, authorizing the issuance of commissions in the state militia, to worthy students in, and graduates of the military department ; also authorizing the use of tents and similar state property by cadets of the UNiversity: also that authority is hereby given to issue certificates of proficiency, signed by the chancellor and Professor of the military department, to such students as complete the required military course.

On motion the Board then took a recess until tomorrow morning at 9 A.M.

The Board of Regents met at 9 A. M. pursuant to the adjournment of yesterday.
Present regents Burnham, Gere, Holmes, Hull and Mallalieu. Absent Regent Hiatt.
