300Special Meeting Accept Research Grants It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carried, directing acceptance of the following research grants as reported by Dean John C. Weaver, Research Administrator, under date of June 30, 1959. Research Grants -- $34,652 $17,200 from National Science Foundation for research by Dr. R. L. Chasson of the Department of Physics: Cosmic Ray Monitoring. $2,882 from National Society for the Prevention of Blindness for research by Dr. Gordon E. Gibbs of the Pediatrics Department of the College of Medicine in Omaha: An Attempt to Produce Diabetic Eye Lesions in the Alloxanized Monkey. (Continuation) $1,200 from the Nebraska State Department of Agriculture, Potato Development Division, for research by Prof. Robert O'Keefe of the Department of Horticulture and Forestry: Development of Potato Chipping Varieties Suitable for Production in Nebraska. $10,580 from the U. S. Public Health Service for research by Dr. A. R. McIntyre of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacy: Cardiac Actions of Rhodochlorin on Mammalian Hearts. (Continuation) $990 from U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (Omaha) for research by Dr. Roscoe E. Hill of the Department of Entomology: Ecological Investigation of Mosquito Population Near Gavin's Point. $1,800 from Lakeside Laboratories, Inc. for research by Dr. Roy G. Center for Continuing Education Low Bids Accepted From the Business Manager comes a series of recommendations with respect to construction proposals for the University of Nebraska Center for Continuing Education. It is the Business Manager's recommendation that the following low bids be accepted: General Contract Mechanical Contract Electrical Contract Other Bids Received Other bids received for the general construction work were as follows: A. Borchman Sons Co. $ 1,894,000.00 Other bids received for the mechanical work were as follows: Natkin & Co. $ 664,437.00 Other bids received for the electrical work were as follows: A.B.C. Electric Co. $ 218,800.00 Kitchen equipment proposals rejected The Business Manager further recommends that all kitchen equipment proposals be rejected.
