Laboratory It was moved by Regent Welsh seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried that the appropriate administrative officer of the University be authorized and direted to apply for membership in the Associated Midwest Universities in order to become a Participating Institution with Argonne National Laboratory. Membership in Associated Midwest Universities is limited to those educational institutions "which have demonstrated active interest in basic science research by offering graduate research programs of good quality leading to doctorates in at least three of the four broad fields of biological sciences, chemistry, engineering and physics." Eliminate Course in College of Dentistry It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, that the Department of Dental Science and Literature in the College of Dentistry be eliminated and that four courses in the Department be listed under the name of the Dean as instructor. This action had been recommended by the College of Dentistry. Chemical Engineering Dept. placed under College of Engineering From the Faculty of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, come the following proposals: 1. That the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in the College of Arts and Sciences be reorganized as the Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Chemical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Architecture. 2.
