Dr. [?] called attention to similar fossil forests on the river [?] in Western Asia. Prof. Foster explained specimens of fossil wood in excavating the new city reservoir.

Mr. Hopkins read a paper on the influence of over-fertilization in the orange. Specimens were shown having marks supposed to be due to pollen of the lemon. There was not sufficient proof however that the appearance was due to that cause. Several members gave observations showing an influence of a cross on the fruit the
