President must see and talk with
whoever shall be called to the professorship.

Can you not come within
a few weeks to this state?
I do not know how your vacations
are arranged or whether
you can get off at any time you
choose. Professor Porter is to hold
a series of f[?] institutes in
the state — could you come & lecture
on Botany at an institution or two?
