Dear Sir:
A copy of your Preliminary Report on Native Trees and shrubs of Neb was received and examined carefully. I believe we have in Richardson Co another Oak besides those given. from the tree and leaves & acorns it appears to be Quercus Prinus var acuminata. or at least a Chestnut Oak. I will try to send you branches of this tree next season. The Sawmill men tell me we have two kinds of Cottonwood on the Mo. river. one they call the Yellow Cottonwood which they claim is superior for lumber to the white., they may be varieties of P. monilifera or the same tree of greater age.
May 22 1885 I found on the mo. river bluff at Brownville a Calycauthus floridus or closely related specie to the floridus. I see
