261As Buffalo Bill, accompanied by his | 261As Buffalo Bill, accompanied by his wife and daughters, were returning from the Opera House to his hotel after the performance on the night of the 3d in Council Bluffs, Ia., a horseman came dashing up the street, and when within a few feet of Bill, drew a revolver and fired three or four shots toward the party, and the rode rapidly away. Fortunately none of the shots took effect, one merely grazing the cheek of Mr. Cody. He thinks the shots certainly could not have been intended for him. He offered, however, $100 for the apprehension of the miscreant. The fellow, whose name is Benedict, was arrested next day, and in default of $1000 bail was sent to jail. He gives no explanation of his strange conduct. |
