will be made in the choice and arrangement of its contents to satisfy the tastes of
all who are interested in Literature and Art.

THE ENGLISH ILLUSTRATED MAGAZINE is designed for the entertainment of
the home and for the instruction and amusement of young and old, and it will
be conducted in the belief that every section of its readers in whatever direction
their tastes an interest may tend, are prepared to demand and to appreciate the
best that can be offered to them.

NATURE.
A WEEKLY ILLUSTRATED JOURNAL OF SCIENCE.
Single Numbers, price, 15 cents; Yearly Subscription, $6.

The attention of all interested in the general progress of knowledge is earn-
estly invited to this Journal, which has now become the accredited organ of the
leading scientific men, in communicating their views to each other and to the public.

Among the contributors to NATURE will be found the names of almost every
man of note in the various departments of Scientific inquiry in England, America
and the Continent of Europe. As questions of science compass all limits of
nationality, and are of universal interest, a periodical devoted to them may fitly
appeal to the intelligent classes in all countries where its language is read. The
proprietors of NATURE will aim so to conduct it that it shall bear a common claim
upon all English-speaking peoples.

NATURE is published in London and New York, and it asks, as it will be found
to deserve, the liberal patronage of the thinking classes of the United States.
Every intelligent man is now expected to know something of what is going on in
the scientific world; the columns of NATURE will give a summary of it, varied,
compressed, and authentic.

THE
PRACTITIONER.

A MONTHLY JOURNAL OF THERAPEUTICS AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

Edited by T. LAUDER BRUNTON, M.D., F.R.S.

Single Numbers, 35 cents. Yearly Subscription, $3.50.

"To hard-worked medical men, in general country practice, with little time
for reading, and few opportunities for professional conversation, such a journal
as this bringing every month the latest ideas to medical practice and the latest
records of important cases, ought to be invaluable." - London Guardian.
