56BUFFALO BILL. This evening Buffalo Bill and his company will be at Music Hall. Of the wonders of the performance in Hartford last evening, the Courant says: The princpal play of the evening introduced such characters as Brigham Young and John D. Lee, and pleasant scenes like the Mountain Meadow massacre. The incidents were both comical and terrific. Altogether the best thing of the evening was the shooting by the Austin Brothers, each in turn with a Stevens rifle exhibiting wonderful markmanship. The shots included the shooting of potatoes held in the hand and poised upon the head; the snuffing of a candle, and the extinguishing of a lighted cigar held in the mouth, besides other severe and apparently hazardous tests, altogether surpassing the remarkable fiction concerning William Tell. The entertainment as a whole is of such a character that it will probably draw large audiences in most places. The play to be presented this evening, while highly sensational, is not of the "blood and murder" style, and gives Mr. Cody an opportunity to display his talents in "parlor drama." | 56BUFFALO BILL. |
