Mr J B. Hickok was six weeks ago upon the plaies and probably had scarcely ever visited a theatre and knew nothing of its workings. That he should get through a part, full of busy action, shows a wonderful adaptability. He is a tine noble looking man, and those familiar with his brilliant record regarded him with eyes of wonder and amazement. Taken altogether the three scouts acquitted them. selves splendidly, and in subserving a purpose and showing us in mimie life the wild career of the frontiersman, they deserve the thanks of the lovers of the realistic.
Mr. Maeder, the author of the play, gave us a clever bit of character acting as “The OldVet," and he and “Samivel” (Walter Fletcher kept the house in a roar, supplying the comic element of the play. Rena Maeder as “Kitty” austal, ed the impression made by her last spring. She was pretty, plump, per and pleasing, and gave a natural rendition of a charm: log, brave little Hibernian girl.
