30Col. [Red?] Shirt is a Sioux Indian brave who at the present writing is one of the actors in the Wild West show of Hon. Buffalo Bill Cody, now performing with great success at London. The show has been specially visited by the queen, who expressed herself as greatly pleased and accorded Hon. Bill Col. Red Shirt personal interviews. The Indian told the truth when he announced to the queen the wonder he enjoyed in seeing a heap big squaw who is heap more big powerful than any man. If the savegery can be characterized as the exhibition of the entire absence of respect or tender regard for women, then the American Indian is in all respects a thorough savage. It must have been a mighty strange sight for a Sioux Indian to find a woman in chief authority over a powerful nation. A squaw who could boss an entire tribe was a curious spectacle for him, and it must be much more so to the real genuine squaw- the kicked, beaten and oppressed female slaves that belong to Indians of Bill's show- to realize such a fact. | 30 |
