There never was seen in this city a house
more completely packed than the opera
house was last night on the occasion of the
first appearance of Buffalo Bill, Texas Jack,
and Mdle. Morlacchi. The drama presented
was "Life on the Border." The opening
farce was given in "The Widow's Victim,"
in which Morlacchi as Jane Chatteney astonished
all by her naive, graceful and effective
acting, Her dancing is too well known to
require complimentary remark, for she is
without doubt a most charming danseuse --
one of the best in the country.
The drama of "Life on the Border" was
well put on, and the manner in which it was
played gave utmost satisfaction. A sight
of the handsome faces and manly forms of
Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack is enough to fill
the house to overflowing every night. The
troupe will play to-night and to-morrow afternoon
and morning. At the last performance
Morlacchi appears in "Thrice Married,"
giving three beautiful dances and
singing a coraaino from the opera of Eminant
The drama will be the great sensation -
