PAWNEE BILL'S FAR EAST
Greece, Rome, Germany, England and America represent but successive steps in the development of human thought and achievement, whose origin may be traced, however dimly, to the quickening impulse of Asiatic life and character, called into action by many splendid conquests in the field of art, literature and science.
Since the creation, or evolution, there has evidently been, through wars of conquest, a commingling of victor and conquered as to give some traceable traits of similarity, notwithstanding the distinctiveness of each class.
{DAHOMIAN VILLAGE}
To introduce representatives of distinctively defined specimens, associated with the more primitive life of these countries, will be the province of "Pawnee Bill's Great Far East."
---------------
IF there was as much "horse sense" in some of the "leaders of thought" and propounders of wisdom as there is in this exhibition, there would be a good deal less bucking in prosperity's parade.
{DANCERS AND MERRY-MAKERS}
YEARS before Geronimo was captured and twenty-six years before he died; ten years before "Sitting Bull" was killed, Colonel Cody, "Buffalo Bill," launched his instructive object lesson into a new field that combined history with enjoyable entertainment in a manner that capped the heighth of realism, from the fact that he presented a story now past, but then existing. The "Wild West" was first given as a Fourth of July entertainment at North Platte, Neb., in 1881, with a success that was emphasized by the fact that the last of the most noted Indians and plainsmen then existing were participants in the experiment.
