Dear Dr Bessey:

I have looked over your cherry carefully and it confirms my former conviction that it is an undescribed species. I am now making a bulletin upon the native prunuses of value in cultivation and propose to call this one P. Bessey. There is in cultivation a "sandhill" or "Utah Hybrid"

cherry, which I once thought was this very thing, but I am now thinking that it is something else. Our prunuses are in an awful condition [botanically?]. Yours truly L. H. Bailey

I am greatly obliged for your cherry notes, and I will retrun them just so soon as I settle my mind upon the matter. I don't see how [?] [couts?] have meant your [plant?] where he got his [in?] [?] [?]. But I will look the matter [?] thoroughly before I write. I have just made an attempt to straighten out the [dewberry?] matter in a [?]
