Dear Sir. Prof. Farmham returned
from his trip Easy last Sunday quite
ill, but is improving, and hope to be
well again in a short time. By his request
I answer your favor of the 22nd.
He think the ostrya virginica grows here,
but have found no [tell?] that [?] were the
dissipation perfectly I have examined a number
of these this morning, and can find
none having the finish on it. I enclose a
few of the leaves, three leaves are from a
tree about 35 ft. high answering the description
of Ostya virginica except the leaf. He shall
[?]amine farther, and if we can find the fruit,
will write you concerning it.
Prof. Farmham wishes to thank you for the
list of broke on botony, and will procure a number
of them for use in the school
