NATIONAL THEATRE--BUFFALO BILL--MAY CODY.

Buffalo Bill, as an actor, is not to be judged by any of the conventional standards, but that he is a good drawing card cannot be denied, and the rough, wild, exciting border life he illustrates, aided by genuine and untutored savages is not without specific attracting power; and the fact that he appears in first-class theatres is sufficient proof that Buffalo Bill's patronage is not wholly confined to the gallery. Of all the border heroes who have appeared on the stage, Mr. Cody is by far the best, in fact the only one who has maintained from year to year an organization, and an increasing reputation. There is considerable in the drama of "May Cody" to commend, some stirring scenes and incidents and some really good acting. The hero, himself, is a sight worth seeing.

NATIONAL THEATRE--BUFFALO BILL--MAY CODY

Buffalo Bill drew another fine house at the National Last night. The interest in the drama of "May Cody" never flags, but is kept up by hairbreadth escapes from Indians and Danites. The massacre of the emigrants by the Mormons is realistic. Bill, the hero scout, always conquers in his defense of the right, and stands out a prominent feature. Tonight the drama of "Red Right Hand" will be produced with entirely new effects.

AMUSEMENTS.

NATIONAL THEATRE -- THE RIGHT HAND.

Buffalo Bill has his benefit to-night. Last night the best house of the week greeted him. "The Red Right Hand" is a drama founded on the Indian war of 1876, in which the lamented Custer and his comrades lost their lives. Shortly following the massacre, Gen. Crook sent out adetachment of the 5th cavalry, Buffalo Bill acting as chief of scouts for the party, which succeeded in overtaking a band of hostile Cheyennes, and capturing "Yellow Hand," their chief Col. Prentice Ingraham has gathered the most important incidents of that campaign, and cleverly introduced an interesting story, using the principal characters of scouts and army officers, giving to the drama some natural effects, which ends with the apotheosis of Custer. To-night it will be repeated.

Those Indians.

Buffalo Bill's Indians walked our streets yesterday and exited quite a sensation, especially among the boys and colored people. Crowds of these followed them around and seemed never to tire of the unusual spectacle presented by the peculiarly attired red men. One little girl, however, was not so favorably impressed with the aspect of the strangers, which thoroughly terrified her, so much so that when one of them crossed the street to which she was standing, she fled precipitately in the opposite direction, and without looking ahead, burnt through the window of a cigar store on the southside of Main street. We learn that one of the chiefs, Little Warrior by name, was detained in Petersburg by sickness. Young-Grass that Sprouts-in the-Spring, his squaw remained in that city with him. Eagle-that-Flies-High and another chief came on with the company to Norfolk, and as stated above, exhibited themselves or the street yesterday as well as at the Opera House.
