My dear Dr. Bessey.

Please accept my
many thanks for your kind invitation
to accompany you to the bad lands.
There is nothing that I would enjoy
more than to go off on a botanical
trip with you. But as I have
pledged my sister that I would
visit her during the coming vacation
it does not seem right to leave
family and kim at this time.

I however look forward with much
pleasure to the time when we shall
meet. It is our intention to leave
here on Thursday June 23; remain over
right of Omaha. Do some shipping
and get to Lincoln in the early evening
