UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN.
MADISON

July 7, 1891.

Dr. Charles E. Bessey,

President University of Nebraska,
Lincoln, Nebr.

My dear Sir:-

Your letter of sometime since relative to Professor Kingsley came in the midst of Commencement week and I found it impracticable then to knowledge it. I am very sorry that we are not able to expand our department of zoology sufficiently to furnish a place for so excellent a man as Dr. Kingsley. We shall add an instructor in zoology this year to relieve Dr. Birge of laboratory oversight and some elementary work, but this is not a place, of course, to which I would invite Professor Kingsley. If I learn of a situation of the proper kind I will only be too glad to aid in securing it for him.

Very truly yours,
