It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing that Dr. Frank E. Sorenson of the Teachers College be permitted to serve as Executive Secretary of the Link Foundation, it being understood that this service will in no way conflict with his regular University assignment.

It was moved by Regent Welsh, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, directing the following resolution be approved:

Special Meeting August 1, 1958

RESOLUTION

Name second floor of Research Pavilion "Carl and Caroline Swanson Children's Clinic"

WHEREAS, The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska has approved construction of an addition to the Nebraska Psychiatric Institute located on the campus of the College of Medicine at Omaha, and

WHEREAS, the Carl and Caroline Swanson Foundation, Inc., Omaha, Nebraska, has made a grant to the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska in the amount of $55,140.82 representing 60 per cent of the estimated cost of the second floor of said building addition;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska that the Board accept, with sincere appreciation and gratitude, the generous and public-spirited gift of the Carl and Caroline Swanson Foundation, Inc., and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska does hereby order that the second floor of said addition shall be known as the "Carl and Caroline Swanson Children's Clinic."

Agreememt for flight training to Uni. High School

From the Teachers College comes an Agreement wherein the University will initiate an Air Age Educational Program for the University High School, wherein laboratory experiments in various facets of aviation fundamentals, flight technique, flight safety and flight navigation will be provided enrollees.

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Greenberg, that the president and corporation secretary of the Board of Regents shall be authorized to sign in behalf of the Board a Memorandum of Agreement with the Lincoln Aviation Institute for the furnishing of flight training instruction to University High School enrollees. The vote was recorded as follows: Aye: Regents Greenberg, Elliott, Swanson; No: Regents Welsh and Foote. Motion carried.

Accept Ford Foundation Grant

It was moved by Regent Welsh, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing acceptance of a grant from the Ford Foundation Grant in the sum of $112,000.00 to permit the University to continue an experimental project in educational television as part of the national program in the use of television in public schools. The grant is for the period July 1, 1958 to June 30, 1959.

There being no further business, the Board adjourned.

The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska met on this day for a special meeting at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Administration Building, City Campus at Lincoln.

Regents present: C. Y. Thompson, President J. L. Welsh B. N. Greenberg Frank O. Foote C. E. Swanson J. G. Elliott

University officials present:

Messrs. Clifford M. Hardin, Chancellor A. C. Breckenridge, Dean of Faculties Joseph Soshnik, Comptroller John K. Selleck, Corporation Secretary

Minutes approved

The minutes of the proceedings of the Board at their meeting held August 1, 1958, were approved, copy of the same having been transmitted to the several members of the Board under its order of October 1, 1926.

Resignations approved

From the Chancellor's office come reports of resignations, leave of absence requests, new appointments, adjustments in work and salary and retirement. Money being available for those purposes from former apportionment by the Board, the following actions are taken.

It ws moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carried, that the following resignations be approved as recommended by the Chancellor's Office.
