THE SHAW SCHOOL OF BOTANY. WILLIAM TRELEASE. PROFESSOR IN CHARGE.

ST. LOUIS, MO., Oct 17, 1891

Dear Professor:

I shall present my paper on Nebraska Flora next monday evening as I intended but by introduction only.

I am very anxious to get it out of the way as soon as possible so I hope you and Mr [?] will will send me the lists you desire to gain so I may soon get the thing recopied and into press.

I think of course as you do that it is desirable to bring together as much of the material in one place as possible and not publish here and there ,and so have delivered it that you may both send me your lists.

You see how I have given credit in the list. I shall give due credit on title page also.

THE SHAW SCHOOL OF BOTANY. WILLIAM TRELEASE. PROFESSOR IN CHARGE.

ST. LOUIS, MO., , 18

I shall be pleased to see a copy of your bulletin when published I suppose you get much more time to work now than formerly.

My work is rather draging. Trelease has hardened me with so much teaching that I fear my degree will have to go over a year. I am rather inclined to "kick" (if I may use a strong expression).

Respectfully yours

H. J. Webber.

SHAW SCHOOL OF BOTANY, WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, ST. LOUIS, MO. H. J. WEBBER, ASSISTANT.

St. Louis, Dec 14 1891 Dear Professor

I inclose a mutilated copy of an announcement for a lecture I intend giving next Wednesday evening. Prof Trelease suggests that I send it to the Naturalist) for publication as a general article similar to Nelsons which appeared you will remember a few years ago. I did not prepare it intending to publish but could easily model it for that purpose if desireable. The article will take two or three plates for illustration. Which release says the garden will furnish should there be any trouble about it.

What do you think of such a scheme? Would a general article of such a character be worthy publication?

Respectfully H J. Webber

We would not want to furnish the plate of course unless necessary.

Dear Professor

I understand that Mr. Duffey is pushing somewhat through you for a position in Dakota expected soon to be open.

You may feel easy in regard to Duffey's work down here so far as I can judge he has given satisfaction in every respect and will likely be retained by the garden if such is at present in their power.

As to his work while in Nebraska you are already informed

Respectfully Yours H. J. Webber

Huntley Neb., June 29, '91.

Prof. Bessey State University Lincoln Neb. Dear Sir:

I send by this mail a small package containing a plant which I found in this, the [?] part of Harlew County, where I am visiting friends.

I do not know that it is even a rare special, but it is none which I have never seen before. It seems to be a kind of mushroom growth. When I found it, it seemed to not be connected to the ground but only touching it. It had no root.

Whether it will prove to
