Dear Bessey; [yours?] of it 15th, [inat-?], at hand. I am sorry to have felt it necessary to trouble you with my cabinet matter, The collection has cost me immensely in money and time and I am so situated that I cannot will keep it longer, I have a real affection for many of my [...?], A large number can not be suspicious, it is an opportunity for some college that will not recur again with in a great many years.
I received a copy of your Botany during vacation and was under the impression that I acknowledges its recupt as it time, I did not stay very long in one place, and no doubt omites what I certainty intended to do. We had left our rell for Fall term text books. with the book sellers before is

came to hand, but McBride has [been?] using it as a reference book until results very satisfactory to himself during the term. The work deserves all the good things that the reviewers have said about it, and it will, I am sure, take a leading position as "the botanical text book' for advanced college classes on this side of the Atlantic.
I see Lippencotts have brought [] the [..list?] Edition of Prantl. This, is my opinion, is the only rival in [the] U. S. of your most excellent book.
