Pay the recipient of Prof. [Sorgent]? and [Wln]? C. W. Letterman I misstook the forestry of Arkansas this season. and have been at work before it since last spring. I spent most of my vacation [?] South Ark. and was deeply [?]. I added this season about 200 species to my collection of Ark. [?]. Made myself familiar with many new species that [grow]? in the gulf and southern states.
I have collected 10,000 [duffieotes]? this season, and am now putting up 50 sets of 100 species [?] exchange for a collection of minerals.
This state is rich in plants. For a [?], we have 35 species of ferns. While you have only a few species in Iowa.
The Orders [Comfrontae]?, [Gomineae]? Lobiatae [Serophuloriaeeae]? [Avaceae]? [?] are represented by many species. We are so [?] as to hone in The State The Province [Flora]? in the S. W. Gulf [Flora]? in the S. Texas

Flora in the S. W. Miss Dolly Flora in the East to illustrate, I have found The [?] species of [Corya]? (all the U. S. species) with in the borders of the state) to other stole eon boost of all. Did you ever see [Corya]? [aguotece]? and C my [nistieae]? formis--2 [Phillar]? and 2 [agriolica]? s. They were very interersting to me.
Mr. Letterman and myself discovered [?] [fornes]? of [Ahen]? [Cofollnia]? in Texas and Ark. this season so that species will hone the dignity of a [his]? [?]
How would you like to see a [Chingnofir]? 4 ft in diameter and such seen in S. W. Ark.
I have been [?] your Botany more [minutily]? since I wrote you and like it better than ever. Should have been better [?] had the cuts been more Americanized. Could not suitable [?] be obtained at home for illustration and I find in my work that the [?] home I get my illustrations the better I am able to [?] the idea [?] a standard mind.

I desire to ask you to give me an out line of your course in Botany as it now stands and I presume you have made many changes and improvements since I was a student. I have especially felt the need of the [misscopied]? course you now have, which I when a student did not get. I have become familiar with [meonifestation]? and use the instrument [?] [wery]? day in my work but yet there are so many things I need informations [?]. [about]? [?] [work]? which I have not time to [?] [?] [?]
I dont know when I will be able to do the [?] technical work, which will entitle me to the M. S. degree. I am very much [crowded]? with work. and am trying to work up the German Language I desire to spend my vacations in [?] investigations. Dear Sir:-
Your favor has been forwarded me, and I regret that my answer wil have to remain unsatisfactory. I have never found [?] typhina about here, and was careles in giving it and one or live others a place in my list in Vol. 1, Academy of Science [Proc.]?, from which Mr. Arthur took it. I was then young, and included everything that I had formed about Davenport and within 50 or 100 miles away from Davenport, and then sometimes depended upon others. I joined [?] typhina near Minneapolis, [?]; and examined it very carefully. Thus on my downward trip, I forwarded it near Lacrosse, Wis., I think, Their Capt. W. P. Hall, the Miss. Valley explores, brought specimens of wood, which were [evident]? of the ["typhina"]?, which he had out in Wis. name [?]. He said there were plenty on the Iowa side, above [?], giving the [?] of stern, --and hence I gave it.--[?] [?] was a similar ears. I [?] is in [?]. then in Iowa--And I thought below Dubuque, but I could not be certain. [?] [Parry]? disputes it and I have let it go.
