On Jan. 9 the Sun (Mortgaged) published an interview said to have been obtained in Newark with Mr. and Mrs. Butler (Miss Annie Oakley), of the Wild West Show, in which they were reported as making disparaging statements concerning the management of the show in London. Mr. Butler called at the Sun office and flatly contradicted the publication. He and his wife had not been in Newark for a year, and had had no interview with a reporter of that alleged newspaper. He asked that a denial of the statement be published, and this was promised, but, of course, never appeared. Finding it useless to expect reparation for the malicious falsehood printed in the Sun (Mortgaged), Mr. Butler wrote to Nate Salsbury explaining the whole case. | SCR00007.167That's It, Lie and Stick to It.
