Cody (Bufaflo Bill) and Captain Jack Crawford, "The Poet Scout." It was Crawford's duty to prepare the blank cartriges with which the crack-shot Cody blasted the targets offered him. The night the pair showed here, Crawford gave the cartridge job to a property man, thelling him to stop the end of each shell with parafine. The house employe believed a tallow candle would do as well, so he prodded candle grease into the cartridges and places six of 'em in each gun which Cody was to use. The first shot melted the wax and the sparks set off all the other cartridges. Frank Helvey, then a youngster, heard and saw the explosions, rushed down a stairway into the street, the story goes, and declared that Bufallo Bill was "massacreing the whole audience."

Miss Lotta played Zip to a delighted audience last night, the last performance of a two weeks' engagement, as a successful as any the popular actress ever filled. Tomorrow night the Buffalo Bill combination appear in the border drama of The Red Right Hand, or the First Scalp for Custer, a play with a ocnsiderable amount of blood and thunder int it, and full of sensation and humor. It is founded upon the tragic incidents of the Custer massacre, and the engagement with "Yellow Hand's" band of Cheyennes, in which Buffalo Bill carried off the scalp of that savage chieftain. All these dreadful scenes are presented with terrible reality in The Red Right Hand, and with great fidelity to the historic facts involved. Besides Buffalo Bill, Captain Jack (J. W. Crawford), another noted frontiersman, will appear in an important role. The combination has recived strong praise wherever it has been.
