BUFFALO BILL - The Buffalo Bill Combination
opens at Mechanics' Hall this evening.
The Mail of this morning speaks as
follows in reference to their performance in
that city last night: "There was a very
large attendance last night to see the one
performance of ‘Life on the Border,' in
which Buffalo Bill, Texas Jack, and Arizona
John, and a strong cast appear. The play
is full of strong incident and interest, and
life on the border is illustrated with a vigor
and naturalness almost startling. The
acting of the three named is that of men
familiar with the scenes of fight and hairbreadth
escapes which they portray, and
the actual battles with Indians and border
ruffians, in which the terrible repeating rifle
comes into frequent play are really lifelike.
The Jedediah Broadbrim of Mr. T. Z.
Graham was Miss Laura Fay, Miss Lillian Waite, and
Miss Ada Forrestor were very successful as
Betty Mullany, Mrs. Reynolds, and Emma
Reynolds. The play was effectively set, and
the applause throughout extremely hearty.
The musical and Terpsichorean comedietta,
"Thrice Married," introduced M'lle Morlacchi,
whose dancing was much admired,
and the other parts were well, filled." A very
fine orchestra accompanies the troupe, under
the direction of Prof. Meiring. Reserved
