OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY.
OFFICE OF
THE PRESIDENT.

COLUMBUS, O., 22 July 1891.

Prof. Chas. E. Bessey,
My dear sir,-
Your recent letter reached me at Toronto, Canada, at so late a date that it was impossible to communicate with you again before the meeting of our Board of Trustees. Meantime Professor Kellerman of Kansas Agricultural College had become a candidate for the place. At the meeting, held yesterday, there was a strong disposition to elect you notwithstanding the uncertainty about your acceptance; but having another so good a man at hand about whose acceptance there was no doubt, the Board decided on him.
I should have been much pleased to add your name & strength to our Faculty; but I am assured from your letter that you will feel no disappointment in being left in your present position.
Very truly yours,
W.H.Scott
