Dear Dr. Bessey:
I presume you think I ought to have written you before at length but I have been [ ]
situated that a long letter was impossible. Our trip was all safely accomplished and we arrived here all right. From Buffalo to Binghamton we had for company Prof. [ ] & family of [ ]. We enjoyed them very much. We stayed a little over a week at Binghamton, then to Amherst where we stayed 2 days & then here.
Humphrey is working at a monograph - [ ] [ ] phological & systematic - of Saprolegniaceae.
So far I have seen no scientific people here. All the Boston people are away. [ ] & Sedgwick are in Europe & the others are [ ]
