Dr. [Geo?]. [?]. Engelmann

My Dear Sir

I am preparing a
paper for the American Naturalist on the progress of botanical
science in the United States
during the year 1879. Knowing that
your father, Dr. George Engelmann,
is now away in the far west, I
write to you to beg that you will
ascertain what botanical contributions
were made by him during that
year. I shall be under many obligations
also for copies of such contributions
when possible.

The dates should all be in
my hands by the 10th or 15th of this month.

Very truly
Yours [?]
C. E. Bessey.
