Dear Bessey;
Yours of the 13th, inst,
at hand. I am sorry to have felt it necessary
to trouble you with my cabinet matter.
The collection has cost me immensely in
money and time and I am so sintuated
that I cannot well keep it longer.
I have a real affection for many of my
specimens. A large number can not be
duplicated. It is an opportunity for some
college that will not occur again in
a great many years.
I received a copy of your Botany
during vacation and was under the
impression that I acknowledged its
receipt at the time. I did not stay
very long in one place, and no doubt
omitted what I certainly intended to do.
We had left our orders for Fall Term
text books with the book sellers, before it
