that permanent and competent clerical help be employed in the Chancellors office to relieve of many items of service now performed by professor Bessey and such aid by additional compensation or otherwise as will serve to lighten the burdens of his special department, be also granted. It is believed by your committee taht such detailed aragements by the Executive committee may be made in the above direction, as will enable him to serve the University for another year, or till a regular Chancellor be elected, with less annoyance than during the year past.

7. Petition of the Band to continue organization use instruments, uniforms, Room et. al. during vacation.
Your committee recommend granting of this request the same to be under direction of the steward and president of the Board, as to proper care, protection, et. al.

On motion the report of the committee was recieved and adopted.

A communication was presented by Mr. W. N. Fletcher relating to the legallity of witholding from him by the Governor of the State, a commission as an officer of the Cadet Battalion, which was referred to the University and Library committee.

The committee on course of study reported as follows:
The committee on course of study to whom was referred that part of the Director's report (Ag'r Ex. Stat'n) pertaining to the department of animal diseases, recommend that professor Bessey be authorized to look for a suitable person to fill the position of investigator of animal diseas, for a term of two years and to present the name of such person to the Board at the December meeting for consideration.
In the matter of filling chair of Horticulture your committee recommends that owing to lack of funds no action be taken in relation thereto at this meeting.
