Degrees conferred

Class of 1888.

On motion it was ordered that the recommendations of the several Faculties for the conferring of degrees,be(sic) approved,and(sic) that degrees be conferred upon the several candidates above named, in accordance with the said recommendations and as specified above.

Masters degree Frankforter.

Ordered also that in accordance with the recommendation of the Faculty, the degree of Master of Arts be conferred upon Mr.George(sic) Bell Frankforter and that diplomas be issued to all candidates for degrees in accordance with the provisions of the By-Laws of the Board.

The Secretary called attention to the necessity of providing a vault for the safe keeping of accumulating records and files,and(sic) the matter was referred to the finance committee.

A recess was then taken until 4 o'clock p.m.

After recess.

Lincoln,Nebraska (sic) June 13th. 1888.

The Board of Regents continued their session at 4 o'clock p.m.

Present Regents Burnham,Davis,Gere,Hull,Roberts(sic) and Mallalieu,- a full Board.

Relating to Butterfield's Medical degree - Diploma to issue on conditions.

Dr. Butterfield was permitted to address the Board in person, touching his candidacy for a Medical degree from the University,pending(sic) since 1884.

Ordered on motion of Regent Burnham, that upon the filing with the Secretary of the Board of Regents certificates of the Board of Examiners of the Eclectic Section of the former Medical College of the University, sworn to before a Notary Public, to the effect that Dr. Butterfied had satisfactorily passed the examinations formerly required of candidates for medical degrees, that a diploma be issued to him signed by the Chancellor and President of the Board of Regentsmedical examiners consisting of Doctors W.S.Latta,Ira Van Camp(sic) and J.H.Woodward(sic).

Regent Roberts asked to have his vote recorded in the negative upon the motion for this order.

The Secretary read a report of progress from the building committees,which(sic) was received and placed on file.
