Prof. Char E Bessey
Dear Sir:
Your very kind letter received. I fear that I am a troublesome correspondent, but I am an enthusiast on the subject of botany, and and cannot resist the temptation to ask questions.
When you were absent from Lincoln I sent specimens of our troublesome [?] to Prof [?] Watson of Harvard University. He at first, [?] to the [?] [?], but sent for more specimens. I sent more mature ones and he then classified it as [?] [?] of a [?] growth. This cannot be correct however as the spikes are not in [?]. Again it cannot be a [?] growth as I have since found the plant growing on the side of a wall canon where a spring was aging through the soul and the growth was identical with the plant growing
