Prof. C. E. Bessey:
Dear Sir:

We shall elect
in June a Professor of Botany at a
salary to begin with of $1500 to
$1800 according to the man and
his reputation and experience.
We want a botanist who is
recognized as a [?] and
worker among botanists.

Have you any desire to
migrate eastward? I am not
prepared just yet to make
you an offer, but your reputation
is such that I thought
of you at once, as soon as
the selection was decided
on.
