Dear Sir,
I am laying plans for a
herbarium case. I noticed in the last Bull. Torrey Bot.
Club. of which I am an honorary member that at the
Ames [labor?] meeting you described your cases &
used the [?] for tables, etc. I have now over two
thousand specimens from all parts of the U. S. & desire
to continue exchanging. Have over six hundred duplicates
of the Flora of this region. I desire south native
species or any not on my list. Now if you will
give me an idea of your system, it will be very
thankfully received. I have in mind a series of pigeon
holes 12 in x 8 in x 18 in deep to hold the mounted specimens
flat, as they are laid in the genus covers or in orders.
I have used your Botany & am well pleased with it.
[?] can you inform me where I can get De Barey's
Work lately issued. Our book sellers here can not
find it. If you should desire any species from
this locality shall be glad to exchange.
Respectfully yours,
Thos. H. Lucy, M. D.
Member Am. Soc. of Microscopists.
