My Dear Sir, The specimens of Puccinia you send are clearly the same as Puccinia Labeliae [Gerard]. Ellis and Farlow ought to have done better with this. Even if they did not wish to recognize Gerard's name. I do not see why, unless by mistake, they should change ["microsperme"?] to 'microspere." Gereard's ame has [priority?] of 8 months.
Very truely Yours [Chap?] H. Peek

My dear professor
The article you ask for was written in 1879 while the Legislature was in Session. A Mr. Stanchfield (G.O.) [???] was a member and a bitter opponent of the college. He has been a member of your Board and always ???? any slighting by of Michigan as compared to the Iowa Agricultural College. So the Lansing Republican goes to every member of the House. I took occasion to put an account of your college where they ???? be likely to see it. I wrote wholly as a friend.
I regret that I cannot send you a copy. I sent the last I had and the last I

knew where to get to President Welch. Possibly he may have preserved the paper, although there was nothing in it to merit such attention.
I hear of you from time to time, and you may be sure, with great pleasure, rejoicing in your successes. I suppose you have our [?] Europeoan with you. He came to us when but a year from Denmark.
We enjoyed having Professor Knapp an Budd with us very much.
I remain Truly Yours

Dear Sir
Hearing that "The Naturalist" is to send an expedition to S. Amer. I wish to ask you to help me to get some charas.
I will pay a good price $ for 100 specimans of each species or form found. It would be but little trouble and would help a little toward the expenses & help me a great deal.
