I may have already answered
your postal [cards?] (no date) requesting [induction?]
of my botanical contribution fo 1879.
I have been out of Iowa most of the time for
two months and as th [Card?] is still upon
my table, I may have forgotten answering it.

I have contributed nothing for publication
during the year. The Atlas of the [U?]. S. [Coal flora?]
was bound in a volume and distributed in
the end of 1879 or beginning of 1880. Now
the text is finished and with the [?].
It can not count for [past?] year.

The [U?]. S. [Coal flora?] is published by the
Geol. [?] of [P?]enn. and sold by the board
[?] all the Reports at [?] [price?]; th agent
& F. W. Forman. 223 [?] St. harrisburg
[Pa?]. I do not have any [?] for distribution.
