Special and informal meeting

Omaha, Neb.

Omaha,Nebraska(sic) May 15th, 1888.

The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska,met(sic) in special and informal meeting at the Millard Hotel in the City of Omaha,Neb.(sic) upon the informal call of the President,and(sic) b y agreement of five members.

Present, Regents Burnham, Gere, Hull, mallalieu and Roberts.
Absent ,(sic) Regent Davis.

Object stated.

The chairman stated the object of the meeting to be the consideration informally of the question of retaining the services of Dr.D.B.(sic) Brace for the coming year,and(sic) called for the reading of the proceedings of the Faculty touching the subject.

Objecion by Chancellor.

Chancellor Manatt made objection under section 6. of chapter 5. of the By-laws,as(sic) to the method of communication between the Board and the Faculty and also raising the question whether there was any business properly before the meeting as coming from the Faculty,and(sic) insisted upon a ruling.

The chairman ruled that this being an informal meeting by agreement, if no member objected,the(sic) body might properly receive and read for its information,any(sic) document or paper.

The resolutions and recommendations purporting to be official copies of actions of the Faculty had on the 14th.inst.relating(sic) to the case of Dr.Brace(sic) were then read by the Secretary for information together with recommendations of the Faculty touching the same matter and filled with the Board at its March meeting 1888.
