LINCOLN, NEBRASKA JUNE 10TH, 1884.

JUN [13?] 1994

The board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, met in annual sessions at the office of the Chancellor, in the University building, at 2 o'clock p.m., [pursuant?] to the provisions of the by-laws.

Present, Regents J.M. Hiatt, M.J. Hull and J.T. Mallalieu.

Absent, Regents J.W. Gannett, C.N. [Gene?] and E. P. Holmes.

No Quorum.

There being not a quorum present at this time, the regular order of business was dispended with.

The Chancellor stated that his annual report was not fully prepared for submission and called attention only to the matter of [conferring?] degrees, in course and monorary in accordance with the recommendations of the faculty.

On motion, the Chancellor was instructed by the members present, to confer the proper degrees publically on commencement day, uponj the present graduating class, also the monorary degree of L.L.D., upon Prof, E.B. Andrews of Brown University and the degree of the master of arts upon [Chas.N.?] Little, subject to the approval of the board as soon as a quorum shall be present.

The board then adjourned until June 12th, 1884, at 9 o'clock a.m. awaiting the attendance of absent members.

The board of regents of the University of Nebraska, met at 9 o'clock a.m., pursuant to the adjournment of the minority of the 10th, instant.

Present, regents J.M. Hiatt, M.J. Hull, John T. Mallalieu and Leavity Burnham, vice regent Gannett resigned.

Absent, regents Gere and E.P. Holmes.

Temporary pres't.

In the absence of the president [Hon. C.H. Gere?] the board was called to order by the secretary, and on motion put and carried regent J.M. Hiatt was chosen temporary president.
